Jee+Hoy || Wedding

This weekend I attended Jee and Hoy’s wedding. It was a special event shared by their families and friends. Some of the highlights included fro-yo from Sweetgreen during the reception that had the Kim Special consisting of yogurt, strawberries, fruity pebbles, and mochi balls. It was totally awesome and delicious! There was also a groom’s cake of the hokie bird. Granted I’m a wahoo and am suppose to despise all hokie fans(since they are our rivals) but I have to admit that the cake was pretty awesome. Congratulations to Jee and Hoy!

RIP Balz

The University of Virginia emailed today informing me that they tore down my first year dorm so they can rebuild a more state of the art building. I think every first year needs to experience the extremely hot rooms with the only air flowing from the fan stuck in the window. At the time it was awful but looking back, it was definitely an experience.

There were some great memories in that dorm with some great friends. Granted it was always a hike up to this place and definitely not a biker friendly dorm but it was the life of the first year at UVA. Most days I would have to get off my bike and walk it up because I couldn’t make it up the hill…hahaha. It’s sad to see it go but I guess all good things must come to an end. Here are the pictures UVA sent me and asked if I wanted to pay $200 for a brick from the demolition.

Annie+Linn||Wedding

Annie and Linn had their fairy tale wedding in Hawaii a couple of weeks ago. They did a superb job in setting everything up from the welcome bags to the linens for the reception tables. I wish I had captured the wonderful details they spent time on but forgot, shame on me. The ceremony site was gorgeous with the beach backdrop and the reception hall was an all out party. During the reception, lots of tears were shed out of happiness for the couple while Linn had many surprises for his new bride. He did the poster board skit from Love Actually which was followed by him singing Jason Mraz’s Lucky. It was definitely heartfelt throughout the room. Just thinking about it gives me the chills. I think I can safely say that every single person at their wedding had a fabulous time.

Aside from celebrating their wedding day, I also got to meet my photography idol at this wedding, Ben Chrisman. It was awesome watching him and Erin work their magic during the wedding day. I was able to get a picture with him at the end of the night and hope to run into him again sometime soon.

CONGRATS to Linn and Annie!! Thanks for having such a fantastic wedding and inviting me to it!

Jason+Debbie||Wedding

Jason and Debbie had their wedding last month. It was amazing to witness this event because I knew them when they got together back in high school. It only seemed like the other day we were all hanging out at track practice. It was a joyous and beautiful day for families and friends to celebrate this official union. Congratulations to Jason and Debbie! To many more years of laughter together!

AT&T Golf on the 4th

I went back to the AT&T Golf Tournament on the 4th with my parents, who are avid fans of the sport. It was definitely another exciting day of golf throughout the round where the lead changes were constant. The atmosphere was more intense than during the Pro-Am on Wednesday. Yesterday I attended Jun and Miriam’s wedding as a guest. I decided to bring along my camera anyways to get a few images. Miriam looked gorgeous, Jun wasn’t bad looking either, and were both having a great time throughout the night. Hyon Smith was there with his crew doing what they do best and it was nice to be on the other side. Here are a few images that I got to capture out of my usual ninja suit.

Jack+Hollie||Engagement

A couple of weeks ago, I helped out Jennifer Kim with her engagement session of Jack and Hollie. We met up with them at the Jefferson Memorial in Washington D.C and had a fairly easy session because it wasn’t crowded. Now for some pictures from the session. The first picture was a test shot by Jennifer and I love it. Since I’m always behind the camera, I have no pictures of myself so I thought this was a fun one of me. Thanks Jennifer!

AT&T National Golf Tournament

Photography has been a great to me so far. I’ve met some fabulous people and have enjoyed myself immensely. On Tuesday, I found out I would be able to attend the AT&T National Golf Tournament’s Celebrity Pro Am. I joined Hyon Smith for some behind the ropes action, which got me to about a foot from all the golfers, at the event. I was like a little kid at a candy store, star struck beyond belief. It was unreal to see these golfers live and in person after seeing them week in and week out on the golf channel. I was also super excited to see Tony Romo, which by the way is one wicked golfer. He played off he same tees as Tiger Woods throughout the round. Following him, were Jason Campbell and Antwaan Randle El, who were not as good as Romo on the course. Sterling Sharpe was also there and his game wasn’t too bad either. Here is some footage I captured that day which had most golfers and celebrities in smiles and good spirits. The #1 golfer in the world was as intense as ever.

Undefeated Champs!||Sports

My brother’s flag football team won 2 hard fought games to win the championship on Sunday night. All the guys are really competitive and never gave up til the final whistle was blown at the end of the game. There was some great action that night and sadly I missed some of it because I became so wrapped up in watching the close games. Nevertheless, I still got some great shots. With 38 seconds left in the championship game, the lights at the fields went out again. Both teams elected to finish up rather than come back another day. I was just relieved that I was smart enough to pack my flash or else I wouldn’t have been able to take the victory pictures after the game. Congrats to Buckle Up to an undefeated season, 10-0!!

Jee and Hoy||Engagement

This past weekend I got to photograph some engagement pictures for some friends. Meet Jee and Hoy. I first met Jee back in 2004 for some Turkey Bowl football and have been playing football together ever since. Oddly enough, we also share the same birthday as well as enjoy photography with canon lenses. Their wedding is coming up in 2.5 months and they needed some vibrant engagement pictures. I offered my services and the weather also cooperated by giving us sun and pretty blue skies, which has been quite rare these days. So here are some pictures from the session. Congrats to Jee and Hoy…. we’ll be seeing you two standing at the altar in a couple of months.

Breakfast at Tiffany's

This past weekend was Annie’s bridal shower. We had their engagement session back in October and the wedding date is finally almost here. Her bridesmaids went all out for her and made this shower a Breakfast at Tiffany’s theme since Annie’s middle name is Tiffany. Also, they brought in the Tiffany’s and Co. theme into the mix as well since teal is one of Annie’s wedding colors. I was able to snap a few decorations before I had to leave for a wedding. This was probably one of the best bridal showers that I have seen to date. Great job ladies!

Clare+Jaime||Wedding

A couple weeks ago, I assisted Pat Stewart at Clare and Jaime’s wedding. Their ceremony was held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the reception was at Congressional Country Club. It was a great day of celebration surrounded by their families and friends. Jaime and Clare were very friendly and fun which can be seen by their bridal party. I had never seen a bridal party as big as theirs before but just shows you what kind of people they are… people lovers. After the ceremony, they headed back to the reception site in a red vintage Mercedes Benz convertible. I had a great time hanging out with them and their friends on this special day. Congrats to Jaime and Clare!

Pete & Christina||Wedding

Last month I got the opportunity to photography Pete and Christina’s wedding. I’ve known Pete since he was in high school and it was really nice to see him meet his perfect match. Every time Pete came home from school, he’d rave about how great Christina was and I didn’t get a chance to meet her until the day of the wedding but she lived up to every word Pete said. Christina was delightful, fun, and nice. I was happy that I got to capture this special day for them with the help of Jennifer and Claire. Praise the Lord that the weather held out for us and only a few rain drops fell. Congratulations Pete and Christina!!

Action Packed || Sports

Lately it’s been a cycle of weddings and football games. At weddings you usually know when certain things will happen and can usually catch it because it’s at a slow pace. In a football game, everything is happening so fast, you don’t know where you should be pointing your camera. I’m all about anticipating the moment so I made it a goal to improve on it during football games. As the weeks go by, I am learning to read the player’s body movements so that I can tell if they will be getting the ball. Just like in poker, everyone has a tell. So this past weekend’s game was an early one and the sun was still out. I thought shooting in the dark was hard but shooting when the sun is setting is even harder, there’s no control of the light, it’s just blaring bright! I will be posting some wedding pictures later this week. Have a great one.

Explosive Performance

Last week, my brother said he needed my help so I said yea sure. Little did I know what I would be getting myself into the next day. My brother is a Training Director for Explosive Performance(EP) at the Tysons Sport & Health. Explosive Performance provides sport specific training to athletes of various ages. The training involves increasing the agility, speed, and explosiveness of the athletes. So if you need some extra training to get to the next level, you should definitely go see these guys. Not only do they know what they are talking about but are also really nice guys.

Anyways, they are in the process of creating a new website and needed some head shots of the EP trainers for the site. I’ve never done head shots before so it was definitely a new experience. I made it through the 14 trainers and we did a casual group shot at the end of their training session.
