We had a small celebration for Nicolette’s 1st birthday at the house. It’s crazy to think that she was born a year ago at 1.7lbs and still has the same fiesty spirit as day 1.  She will be having the traditional Korean birthday celebration in a couple of months because her parents didn’t want to expose her to any flu or cold germs that people tend to carry during the winter.  Nicolette had a great time tasting her 1st cupcake until she gagged from the sugar rush.  Happy 1st birthday to my goddaughter!! I can’t wait to celebrate more birthdays with you

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! and what’s a better way to ring in the new year than a newborn baby.  Meet Isabell, she is Maddy’s new younger sister.  You can tell Maddy is going to be a great big sister and these 2 girls are going to team up against their parents.  Here are some pictures from the session where Isabell was wide awake and alert the whole time.

We had a quick holiday session for Nicolette so that her parents could send out some Christmas cards.  Although she was a little uncooperative, I managed to get a few useable pictures of her adorable smile and look.

Jeremiah celebrated his 1st birthday with a restaurant full of people who adore him very much.  The party took place at Han Gang Restaurant in Annandale, Virginia where the atmosphere, service, and food are exceptional.  Jeremiah’s mom did an awesome job with the decorations and little details all around the restaurant.  During the doljabi, Jeremiah chose the golf ball which made the crowd and his family very happy considering the majority of them chose that he would pick it. Happy 1st Birthday Jeremiah!!

Our little preemie is growing fast before our eyes.  Her adjusted age is about 3.5 months and she is as happy as she can be.  It rare to catch her smile on the camera but I somehow managed to get some with the help of her dad.  Instead of her pretty smiles she loves to flash her impression of Elvis constantly.  Of course we couldn’t make it through without her spitting up but her expression of “oops, did i just do that” was priceless.  She also modeled her Baby Gaga onesie she got from her aunt as a baptism gift. It will be interesting to see how much more Nicolette will grow in another 3 months.

Nicolette finally came home after 100 days in the  NICU.  She entered the world under 2lbs and about 4 months early but that didn’t stop her at all because she was feisty and a fighter throughout the whole time at the NICU.  With a lot of love and prayers, Nicolette left the NICU at over 6lbs and is now living the newborn life with her mommy and daddy at home.  During the session, Bruno, their dog wanted some loving too so he intruded onto the set and got his photo taken as well.  Nicolette also rocked the JMU socks that one of her NICU nurses got her during her stay.   Welcome home little girl, I can’t wait to see  you grow some more.

I attended Kai’s 1st korean birthday party at Palace BBQ restaurant in Annandale, Virginia.  He wanted to make sure he made an entrance by showing up to his own party late.  It was a great party with his close family and friends who enjoyed the great food and cake.  During Kai’s doljabi, instead of picking an item he just crawled past everything twice.  He finally got around to picking his custom made putter given to him by his grandfather so watch out world, we’ll be seeing him on the PGA tour soon. Happy Birthday Kai!

Alex James T. would like to say “Hello World!” He was born yesterday at 8 lbs 1 oz and his mommy and daddy love him very much.  I got to go to the hospital for a quick mini session.  He was barely 24 hours old when I got to see him and I can’t wait to take some more pictures when he arrives home in a couple of days.

More twins!! I got to hang out with Claire and Anderson for a little bit a couple of weekends ago.  Claire and the camera were like best friends while Anderson was not a big fan.  Luckily we were still able to capture the little dude for a few pictures and it’s a good thing because both babies have big stunning eyes.  Normally photographing 1 baby is hard but having 2 makes it interesting.  You never know what will happen when 2 are babies are around especially with twins.  In the picture above, Anderson was crying up a storm and all of a sudden Claire reached over and put her hand on his face in efforts to comfort him.  In other pictures, you’ll notice the way one baby looks at the other.  Claire and Anderson were a joy to photograph and I can’t wait see to them grow in the upcoming years.

If you can catch Lucy at the right time she’s all smiles but even when she’s not happy, she’s adorable.  I enjoyed my time with Lucy trying to capture her beautiful smile while listening to her parents trying really hard to make her laugh.  In the end, we were able to get a good number of photos of Lucy.

Meet baby Eli, he’s the nephew of my college friend, Will.  I couldn’t get too many smiles out of him but he was still a cutie with his squishy cheeks.

Elyse aka Birdie turned 1 today. It’s amazing to see how fast she grew up considering it feels like just yesterday she was rocking her tutu and sunglasses. Her family started calling her Birdie because she started coo-ing like a bird which you can see in one of the pictures below. This coo-ing technique helped Birdie out when it was time to blow out the candle, it was really cute.  So the birthday party was bird themed with a bird cage and bird houses for the guests to paint.  This activity was well taken by the adults more than the kids at the party, it was a birdhouse painting  throw down.  There was also a customized birdhouse cake from Cakes by JB.  Let me know if you’re interested in a customized cake, she does an excellent job as you can see. Birdie had a fun time picking at the cake and eating the little flower decorations. Happy Birthday Birdie!!

Little Dakota just turned 1.  I remember when I did her newborn session last year, time has flown by so quickly.  With a name like Dakota, how appropriate is a cowboy theme party, granted the birthday girl couldn’t keep her attire on for long but it still was a fun party.  Some of the older kids wore their cowboy hats throughout the party and it came in handy when the pinata was smashed open to carry all the candy.  Dakota’s cousin, Elyse, came by during the session and I got to capture the 2 girls interacting.  It always makes you wonder if they can communicate with each other, it was sure fun watching them try.  Here are some pictures from Lake Fairfax Park.

Lucas turned 1 a couple weeks ago and I got to celebrate with him and his closest family and friends. The party consisted of a trampoline for the big kids to play on which they took full advantage of by almost deflating it, cupcakes, candy, ice cream, and plenty of food to go around 3 times.  Lucas is one serious boy, always looking like he’s on a mission but he eventually cracked some smiles at the camera. His big eyes and curly hair will drive the girls crazy in a few years.  Happy 1st Birthday Lucas!!
